Rebels Volleyball beat Chadwick in a quick three-set win for their Senior Night and Pack the Place. The girls were determined to beat Chadwick, not only because it was their Senior Night and Pack the Place, but also because they fell to Chadwick in a 0-3 match earlier in the season and were ready take their shot at redemption.

Seniors Libby Penn, Courtney Johnson, Melissa Grande, and Chloe Chanren competed in their final volleyball match as Rebels. It was an emotional night for all the girls on the team as they read aloud their kind thoughts and memories on behalf of their senior teammates. Each of the four special seniors received flowers, a gift, and of course, many warm hugs from their teammates. “The juniors did a really great job with planning everything and our underclassmen really supported us,” Grande said as she reflected on Senior Night and her final season as a Rebel.

Along with Senior Night, it was also Pack the Place. The Mob came out to support Rebels’ Volleyball, dressed in all white and carrying huge signs of the seniors’ faces on it. As usual, the Mob was rowdy, cheering on their team and providing a huge support base for the Rebels.

The final scores of the three sets were 25-19, 25-16, and 25-14. The final set ended with a ball-handling error by Chadwick setter Kiley Keating.

Gritton, Johnson, and Penn were the top scorers of the Rebels’ last match. Gritton got nine kills, Penn came in second with seven kills, and Johnson came close behind Penn with a total of six kills. Outside hitter Josie Doty was the dominant hitter for the Chadwick Dolphins and produced a total of seven kills. None of her teammates were able to come close to her.

The Rebels had a total of eight serving aces, five of them being in the second set alone. Chadwick was unable to gain many points off of serving, seeing that the team produced only one serving ace throughout the entire match.

The Prep Volleyball team ended their season with a 12-8 overall record and a 5-7 league record. They were unable to make the 2018 playoffs, but the remaining players have high hopes for the future.
