The Flintridge Press thanks you for your participation in our opinion poll. In a time of heightened political polarization, we believe strongly in promoting healthy civic engagement in our community. We felt it was important to offer students an opportunity in which to express their political viewpoints. From this process, we hope you have experienced a newfound sense of the deep responsibility inherent to democratic citizenship. When you are eligible, we encourage you to vote. As you approach conversations about politics and the upcoming election, always remember to be respectful and open to learning others’ perspectives.
We polled the Flintridge Prep student body on the 2024 presidential election. 432 out of 530 students anonymously shared their perspectives. 90.6% of students in grades 8-12 participated.
The poll asked students to indicate if they wished to participate and if so, to indicate their preferred candidate: Kamala D. Harris and Tim Walz; Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance; or Other.
- 73 students out of 432 total (16.9%) stated Did Not Participate.
- 250 students out of 432 total (57.9%) stated their preference for Kamala D. Harris and Tim Walz, the Democratic ticket.
- 80 students out of 432 total (18.5%) stated their preference for Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance, the Republican ticket.
- 29 students out of 432 total (6.71%) stated Other.
The school-wide poll data shows Flintridge Prep students’ preferred candidate for this presidential election with a wide margin, with Harris and Walz leading by 15.8%. With all eyes on America, the only thing left to do is await the official results.
