On October 25, 2025, the Flintridge Prep Girls Volleyball Team defeated the Mayfield Cubs with a 3-0 sweep in the annual 2025 Dig Pink volleyball game. Every year, the girls’ volleyball team plays the Dig Pink game during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in order to recognize and show support for all those affected by this life-altering disease. By selling shirts, baked goods, and other apparel at the game, the Prep Team raised over 400 dollars, which they donated to support Breast Cancer research groups.
The Wolves, donning their new pink jerseys, played in front of a packed out, pink-clad student section, cheering them on to a victory in this highly anticipated matchup. Their win keeps the momentum going in an already successful season, extending their record to 19-2 while keeping the team firmly in line for a league title. Although the final result appeared to be a sweep, the game carried a lot more rally and excitement than the scoreboard showed.
From the very start, set one was neck and neck, with each team unable to separate itself from the other. However, the Wolves took a lead at 25-24, and proceeded to seal the set off with a kill on the outside to secure the win and set the tone for the rest of the night. The Wolves jumped out to a commanding lead in set two with a score of 20-10, but the Cubs fought back, tying the score at 24 apiece. Despite this, the Wolves, led by seniors Abbie Callaway and Jaycee Sullivan, maintained composure in the clutch and carried that momentum to finish the third set. Junior Adrienne Hitchcock ‘27 made her presence known from the service line throughout the game, tallying four aces that kept Mayfield on their heels. A. Callaway had 15 kills, and Sullivan had 6.
After the game, senior setter Ashlyn Nam, who tallied over 30 assists, reflected, “Even though we swept them in three, it was a super exciting and competitive game to be a part of, especially with the whole school out to support”. With the victory, the Wolves left with an essential league win and celebrated an important cause far beyond the court.
