As every school year comes to an end, we begin to acknowledge our dwindling time with the senior class, cherishing every last memory with them at Prep. They’re our mentors, our leaders, and the people that we hope remember the answers on the 9th grade Bio test from when they took it…four years ago. Whether through bonding with them in peer counseling, sports, clubs, or the 9th grade Catalina trip, there’s something undeniably special about the friendships and bonds made with seniors during your first year at Prep. Perhaps the most important role seniors play on campus is helping us, as underclassmen, discover where we fit into this community and what kind of people we want to be. So, in light of our impending nostalgia for this year’s senior class, we collected some quotes from freshmen on their favorite memories with upperclassmen.
Q: What were your favorite memories with this year’s senior class?
Elena Rabadi ‘29:
“Some of my favorite memories with the seniors this year (were with) sports! The seniors have been so welcoming and supportive. They always make everything fun whether it’s a regular practice, a meet, or a team dinner, they always have the best energy. They are so supportive and such great role models to look up to! They have made me feel so welcome and I have made so many memories with them!”
Hailey Hong ‘29:
“My favorite memory was when Kaitlyn (Lavichant) helped me make videos for the Flintridge Prep Golf account. She’s really funny and in general just a great person to be around.”
Anjulie Rao ‘29:
“Finley (Shivaram) always brought us very good food.”
Nico Newton ‘29:
“Declan (Mansbridge) putting Isaac (Rabadi) in a headlock.”
Talia Liorsdottir ‘29
“Definitely when Elizabeth Guyer showed up to my house to subpoena me and Ruth (for the senior mock trial), and she gave me Starbucks before (driving) us to Prep.”
Audrey Chung ‘29:
“I had so much fun with (Kaitlyn Lavichant) on the tennis team! She is an amazing mentor and debate captain. (My) favorite memory is watching her film a Tiktok on the bus back from a tennis game. Kate Snaer (is also) very kind, fast, and an AMAZING track buddy. (She would always say ‘yes’ when I) ask her to drive me to track practice, (and she would) run karaoke shows inside her car.”
Eason Zhang ‘29:
“Some of my favorite memories with the seniors this year (are) going to McDonald’s with Daniel Eitan and Will Balikian and just messing around during football, especially when I win against Daniel in hitting drills.”
As the predecessors in the Flintridge Prep high school experience, these seniors have become role models for the younger generations finding their place in our community. Thank you for the four years of laughter, ideas, and spirit. You’ll always have a home and family at Prep. Lastly, we’d like to send an extra thank you to this year’s Editors in Chiefs: Dylan Docter, Dylan Choi, and Isaac Jung. The Flintridge Press has reached new heights under their leadership, and we would not have been able to churn out so many editions this year without their tireless work and spirit. The Prep community–and especially the Press writers–are forever grateful for your contributions to student journalism at our school. You’ve left a mark on writers and readers from all grade levels.
