Every year as first quarter draws to a close, students come together for a Prep favorite: the Homecoming dance. The whole school comes together for an evening of dancing, tacos, and fun with friends!

This year’s theme was Midnight Garden, and its unveiling was met with some surprise. For the students who were confused, Lucy Friedman ‘21 explains, “I think some people were skeptical about the midnight garden [theme] because it was a little ambiguous, but it came together really well.” Danielle Maxwell ‘19 agreed, saying, “At first, I was really wary… but I thought [the decorations] were cute, and I could really see the theme unfold.” As for the initial uncertainty about the theme, James Dixon ‘21, President of the Class of 2021, clarifies, “A couple of sophomore girls suggested to me a garden-themed dance. One girl suggested we call it “secret garden,” based off of a children’s book, so we kept it as a placeholder to put on the ballot.” After the dance ended, there were many comments about how lovely the decorations were, including, “I really loved the flowers, they were super cute and really completed the theme!” commented Saya Sarma ‘20.

As with any social event, the occasion is only as fun as the friends you are there with. Jeffrey Pendo ‘20 commented, “It was really fun to see all of my friends, and the music was really good.” Max Barak ‘20 concurs, “My favorite thing about these dances is always being able to dance and have fun with my friends and classmates. It’s what makes these events so enjoyable: being with the Prep community!”

All-in-all, Homecoming was a great success. As a Prep community, we would like to thank the Sophomore Class Officers for all of the hard work they did in planning and executing this event.
