Boys’ Water Polo Beats La Salle at Senior Night

In a relatively simple match, the Rebels’ boys water polo team showed they could take care of business against La Salle on Friday, October 12.

Much like their last confrontation (score 14-4), Prep seemed faster, stronger, and more organized than the La Salle Lancers. With the final score, 11-4, there was never much doubt in Prep coming away with a league win.

Friday’s match was also the team’s Senior Night: an annual event that is dedicated to the seniors of the team. This year’s seniors include Ryan Huntley, Ben Brookbanks, Isaac LaMarr, and Ian Davies.

Showing his breadth of abilities, co-captain Brookbanks, who usually plays as the goalkeeper, found himself playing ‘in the field’ for the entire second half with Hakop Kaplanyan ‘20 replacing him in the cage. Brookbanks, however, did not come away from the match with a goal, despite the team’s best intentions.

From the bleachers, the boys looked relaxed and seemed to focus on having fun more than anything. “We pretty much knew we would win. It was Senior Night and a good final home game” said Isaac LaMarr ‘19, reflecting on the match.

The Rebels will return to the pool to face Prep’s most infamous rivals, the Poly Panthers, on October 17 away. Prep seeks to have another comfortable victory against Poly, especially having beat them at home on September 7, 11-6.
