On February 3rd, 2026, the Flintridge Prep Wolves defeated the Pasadena Poly Panthers in blowout fashion with a final score of 55-32. For the Wolves, it signaled the ending of another fantastic regular season, resulting in a 7th consecutive Rio Hondo League Title. The Wolves dominated the floor all night, capturing the lead from the start and never looking back. The win would catapult them to a 22-4 record and an undefeated finish yet again in league play. And while this victory was another dominant showing for the Wolves, the win carried even more meaning as the program celebrated three standout members of the class of 2026: Akemi Fu, Pressley Huie, and Maddie Smith.
While senior night is celebrated in just about every Flintridge Prep sport, what makes this senior night especially important is the incredible success this trio of athletes has accomplished together in their four years on the varsity squad. As core contributors to one of Prep’s most reputable programs, this trio has consistently placed FPGBB near the top of the Southern California Basketball CIF rankings, securing a Division One playoff position in this year’s bracket. But their connection as teammates goes back even further, as this trio has consistently played together since the sixth grade on the Lady Aces club team, where they first established the familiarity and chemistry so apparent in their play. Still together almost eight years later, they’ve captured 4 league titles, a CIF championship, and more than 80 career wins, all while earning NCAA offers, multiple league MVPs, 11 combined all-league honors, and even a SportsCenter top 10 appearance. It has been a special run for this trio of girls, and this senior night was the perfect time to recognize everything they’ve accomplished together.
With a roaring crowd packed with friends, family, and faculty, the three seniors led the way, finishing with 39 of the team’s 55 points scored in their final regular-season home game. Maddie Smith led the way, with 17 of those points, closely followed by Akemi Fu’s 12 and Pressley Huie’s 10, highlighting the chemistry and dominance that have defined their four years playing together. As Maddie put it, “It’s been such a privilege to play with these girls that I would call my sisters for the past 8 years. I’ll miss them so much, but I know they’ll achieve great things wherever they go next.” So as these three close their chapter of Flintridge Prep basketball and open a new chapter ahead, they leave behind a standard of leadership, dedication, and excellence that will shape the program for years. While the team will have big shoes to fill, the influence these seniors have ensured that their impact will continue to echo in every future practice, huddle, and game played.
