The 2025 NFL Season wrapped up with Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026. The game was in San Francisco, featuring the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. On January 25 the New England Patriots knocked out the Denver Broncos 10-7 in a second-half snowy showdown. On the contrary, the Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams, 31-27 in a high-scoring shootout. After the NFC and AFC championships, lots of speculation abounded during the two-week dead period. Would the young quarterback of the Patriots, Drake Maye, be able to perform under the pressure? Would Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold revert back to his old habits and turn the ball over?
Each team fought hard to get to the Super Bowl and be able to lift the coveted Lombardi trophy in the air. The Patriots got the two seed in the playoffs and took down the Los Angeles Chargers, the Houston Texans, and the Denver Broncos. Throughout the regular season, the Patriots had one of the easiest schedules with their opponents win percentage at .429, giving them an easy path into the playoffs. The New England Patriots lost to the Buffalo Bills, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Las Vegas Raiders in their 14-3 season. On the flip side, the Seattle Seahawks had a lot of doubt about their season, and people didn’t believe they had what it took to make the Super Bowl. They faced a tough schedule being in one of the hardest divisions, the NFC west. They had to play the LA Rams twice, the San Francisco 49ers twice and of these teams made the playoffs. They faced off against other playoff teams like the Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Carolina Panthers and won all of those games. In the end they finished with a record of 14-3, but people wondered if Sam Darnold, already on his 5th NFL team, had what it took to lead the Seahawks to a Lombardi trophy. Sam Darnold led the NFL in turnovers in the regular season but because of the Seahawks amazing defense and Sam’s resilience the Seahawks clinched the NFC 1 seed.
This year’s Super Bowl in San Francisco was one for the books. There were five field goals made by the Seattle Seahawks, and one of the best defensive performances in Super Bowl history. In the first half, the Seahawks defense, “the Dark Side” slowed Drake Maye and the Patriots to just 52 yards. Before halftime, Sam Darnold led the Seahawks to the red zone three times, and they put up three field goals for nine points. In the second half, the Seahawks defense forced three turnovers and sacked Drake Maye a total of six times, and their offense put up twenty-two points, and their defense scored a touchdown. The Patriots were able to get their offense going a little, but it was not enough. They fell short with a score of 29-13. All of these factors led to the Seahawks 2nd Super Bowl win and left all the fans incredibly happy. The Seattle Seahawks were able to head home as champions and celebrate their win with their fans during the annual parade for the winning team. Being a Seahawks fan I looked forward to watching my team in the Super Bowl, and was so excited when they won.
